Fire Safety

Fire safety at the University is regulated by:


1) Rules of Fire Safety

Order No. 55 of the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 21, 2022. Registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan on February 21, 2022, No. 26867

2) General requirements for fire safety

Order No 405 of the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 17, 2021. Registered in the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan on August 19, 2021 № 24045

3) Fire safety rules of the autonomous organization of education Nazarbayev University

Authorized decision of the Managing Council, dated June 17, 2014

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 11 April 2014 No. 188-V of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Fire Prevention Triangle


A fire needs three elements - heat, oxygen and fuel. Without heat, oxygen and fuel a fire will not start or spread. A key strategy to prevent fire is to remove one or more of heat, oxygen or fuel.


Key points to remember


  • Think about the risks of fire and explosions from the substances you use or create in your study/work area and consider how you might reduce the risks
  • Use supplier safety data sheets as a source of information about which substances might be flammable
  • Consider reducing the amount of flammable substances you store
  • Keep sources of ignition and substances that burn apart
  • Review your risk assessment regularly
  • Maintain good housekeeping
  • Avoid build-up anything that could start a fire

Rescue
Rescue anyone in the immediate danger area if you can safely do so
Yell "FIRE!"
Evacuate!
Stay calm
Turn off any hazardous equipment
Do not stop to collect personal belongings
Head to the nearest fire exit

Don’t re-enter building

  • Fire service number - 101 or 112
  • Location of fire alarm pull stations
  • Location of two nearest exits and evacuation plan
  • Location of fire extinguishers and their use
  • Address in which you study/work/live
